Table of Contents
Introduction
These terms and conditions ("Terms of Use") govern your access to and use of products, software, services, and the web site of PrintPeer (collectively "Services") provided by PrintPeer and/or any other related entity whether in existence now or in the future (collectively referred to herein as "we," "us," and/or "PrintPeer"), and any and all information and content, such as 3D model files, text, graphics, images, videos or other materials uploaded, downloaded, or appearing on the Services. This includes products designed, uploaded, or found via the platform.
By accessing and using the Services, you are agreeing to be bound by and to comply with these Terms of Use. Wherever used in these Terms of Use, "User," "you," "your" or similar terms mean the person or legal entity utilizing or accessing the Services. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE TERMS OF USE WITHOUT MODIFICATION, PLEASE DO NOT ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICES.
6.1 AI Usage & Transparency
🤖 How We Use AI
This section explains how PrintPeer employs machine-learning systems to support the marketplace. We believe in transparent and responsible automation.
Current AI Features
- Job routing and shop recommendations
- Quote estimation and printability checks
- Chat assistance and dispute triage
- Fraud and abuse monitoring
Data & Monitoring
We log when automated systems act on your requests and maintain version records of the models used. Aggregated usage data may improve these systems, but we do not train foundation models on your design files without explicit permission.
User Control
Personalized AI features can be adjusted in your account settings as they become available. Human review is available for any automated action that affects an order.
Key Points
- • AI assists with routing, quoting, and moderation
- • Actions taken by AI are logged and subject to review
- • User data may improve models but is not used to train new foundation models
1. Your Access to the Services
No one under 13 years old is allowed to use or access the Services. By using the Services, the User states and confirms that:
- The User is at least 13 years old;
- The User is over the minimum age required by the laws of your country of residence to form a binding contract (the "age of majority"), or, if the User is over 13, but under the age of majority in your country of residence, that your legal guardian has reviewed and agrees to these Terms of Use on your behalf;
- The User is not otherwise prohibited from using the Services under any and all applicable laws; and
- The User has not been permanently suspended or removed from the Services.
If the User is accepting the Terms of Use on behalf of another legal entity, including a business or government entity, such as an employer, the User represents that they have full legal authority to bind such entity to these Terms of Use.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using PrintPeer, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.
3. Use License
Permission is granted to temporarily use PrintPeer for personal, non-commercial transitory viewing only. This is the grant of a license, not a transfer of title, and under this license you may not:
- Modify or copy the materials
- Use the materials for any commercial purpose or for any public display
- Attempt to reverse engineer any software contained on the platform
- Remove any copyright or other proprietary notations from the materials
4. User Accounts
When you create an account with us, you must provide information that is accurate, complete, and current at all times. You are responsible for safeguarding the password and for all activities that occur under your account.
Creating multiple or duplicate accounts to circumvent restrictions is strictly prohibited. Any such attempts will result in a permanent ban and blacklisting of all associated accounts.
5. Service Terms
PrintPeer acts as a platform connecting customers with local fabrication services. We do not directly provide fabrication services and are not responsible for the quality, timing, or delivery of services provided by shops.
- All transactions are between customers and individual shops
- Shops are independent contractors, not employees of PrintPeer
- Disputes should be resolved directly between customers and shops
- PrintPeer may facilitate dispute resolution but is not liable for outcomes
5.1 Shop Vetting & Quality
Shops are vetted through a strict rating and review system. Only shops maintaining a minimum 4.0 out of 5 stars, with consistent positive feedback and adherence to platform standards, remain active. All shops are subject to ongoing quality monitoring and periodic investigation. Verified shops must provide evidence of authentic production capabilities, fulfillment reliability, and responsive customer service. PrintPeer requires verification of machinery, tooling, and production methods as part of its vetting process.
Shops with unresolved complaints, verified quality failures, or patterns of negative reviews will be suspended or removed without warning.
6. Third-Party Content
đź”— External Links and Services
This section explains our relationship with third-party websites, services, and content that may be accessible through our platform, and your responsibility when using them.
Third-Party Content Definition
The Services may contain links to, for example and without limitation, third-party websites, products, or services (collectively, "Third-Party Content"), which may be posted by advertisers, our affiliates, our partners, or other users. Third-Party Content is not under the control of PrintPeer, and PrintPeeris not responsible for any Third-Party Content.
User Choice and Risk
You can choose whether to access these Third-Party Content and use of any Third-Party Content is at your own risk and the User should make any investigation or diligence that the User believes necessary before proceeding with any use and/or transaction in connection with such Third-Party Content.
⚠️ Important Reminders
- • We don't control or endorse third-party websites or services
- • Always research external services before making transactions
- • Third-party terms and privacy policies may differ from ours
- • We're not responsible for third-party content or services
- • Use external links and services at your own discretion
7. Payment Terms
Payment processing is handled through secure third-party providers. PrintPeer may charge platform fees as disclosed during the transaction process. Refunds are subject to individual shop policies.
7.1 Off-Platform Transactions
Please keep transactions on PrintPeer. Direct deals outside the platform remove the one-click re-quote flow, shipping label tracking, and automatic tax documentation that make the service convenient and safe for everyone.
Sellers who regularly move orders off-site may appear lower in search results, while buyers could see higher service fees. We watch usage patterns to maintain a fair marketplace for all participants.
7.2 Escrow Terms & Practices
7.2.1 Objective & Scope
Establish clear, enforceable rules for how customer payments are held, released, refunded, and—if necessary—disputed while jobs are fulfilled on the PrintPeer marketplace. Applies to all monetary transactions facilitated by PrintPeer, whether domestic (USA) or cross-border.
7.2.2 Key Definitions
Term | Meaning |
---|---|
Buyer | Person or entity seeking a part produced via the platform |
Producer | Person or entity providing fabrication services (a/k/a "Maker", "Host")—can also be a consumer |
PrintPeer | Platform operator and escrow administrator |
Release Trigger | Event that authorizes disbursement of escrowed funds to the Producer |
Product | Item designed, uploaded, or found via the platform |
Dispute | Formal challenge raised by a Buyer or Producer regarding job quality, non‑delivery, etc. |
7.2.3 Custodial Framework
- Licensed Custodian – PrintPeer partners with a regulated payment processor (e.g., Stripe Treasury or Mangopay) that maintains a pooled FBO (for‑benefit‑of) account. Funds are legally owned by buyers until release.
- No Commingling – Operational funds and escrow funds are never mixed. Interest (if any) accrues to PrintPeer to cover custodial costs unless prohibited by local law.
- KYC / AML – Producers must pass identity verification and, where thresholds apply, business due‑diligence (SSN/EIN, government ID, proof of address, sanctions screening). Buyers over USD 10 000 in cumulative volume must verify identity.
- Money‑Transmitter Registration – PrintPeer claims the agent exemption under FinCEN. If that position changes, PrintPeer will obtain state MTL licenses or designate a licensed third‑party.
7.2.4 Escrow Lifecycle
- Quotation – Producer posts price or bids on RFQ; Buyer selects offer.
- Authorization & Hold – Buyer's card, ACH, or wallet is authorized for full quoted amount + taxes + shipping. Funds settle into the Escrow Account (T + 1 banking day typical).
- Production Window – Producer must mark job as "Started" within 48 h; else Buyer may cancel for full refund. Progress updates and photo uploads are timestamped and immutable.
- Completion Notice – Producer uploads proof‑of‑completion (photos, weight, dimensional scan) and, if shipping, tracking number.
- Buyer Acceptance / Auto‑Accept – Buyer has 72 h to accept or open a dispute. Silence constitutes acceptance.
- Disbursement – Upon acceptance, funds (less platform fees) are released to Producer's payout balance; payout executes on next ACH batch (T + 2).
7.2.5 Partial & Milestone Releases
For jobs ≥ USD 1 000 or lead‑time > 7 days, milestone funding may be configured (e.g., 30 / 40 / 30). Each milestone follows the same accept‑and‑release logic.
7.2.6 Cancellations & Refunds
Stage | Cancellation Right | Refund to Buyer | Compensation to Producer |
---|---|---|---|
Pre‑Start (<48 h) | Buyer may cancel | 100 % | 0 % |
In‑Progress (<50 % completion) | Mutually agreed | Up to 70 % | Materials cost + 10 % labor cap |
Completed | Via Dispute only | Case‑by‑case | Case‑by‑case |
7.2.7 Dispute Resolution
- Filing Window – Must be submitted within 10 calendar days of job completion.
- Evidence Required – Photos/videos, communication logs, STL vs. delivered part inspection, shipping damage proof.
- Mediation – PrintPeer Support mediates within 5 business days. If no resolution, escalate to binding arbitration under AAA Online Express (<USD 10 k) or JAMS (>USD 10 k).
- Fee Schedule – Non‑prevailing party pays dispute fee (USD 25 or 3 %, whichever higher). Arbitration fees split 50/50 initially; panel may re‑allocate.
- Chargeback Handling – If Buyer initiates card chargeback during dispute, escrow is frozen; Producer must provide evidence. Chargeback win results credited to Producer minus scheme fees.
7.2.8 Fee Structure (Illustrative)
Item | Payer | Amount |
---|---|---|
Platform Commission | Producer | 14 % of GMV |
Payment Processing | Producer | 2.9 % + 30¢ (card); 1 % + 25¢ (ACH) |
Milestone Setup | Producer | Free first 3 milestones; USD 5 each thereafter |
Dispute Fee | Losing Party | USD 25 or 3 % of GMV |
7.2.9 Risk Controls
- Transaction Caps – Unverified Producers capped at USD 2 500 rolling 30 d; Verified up to USD 50 000 per job.
- Rolling Reserve – 5 % reserve on new Producer payouts for 90 days.
- Quality Scores – Sub‑95 % on‑time delivery triggers manual review.
- Equipment Failure Insurance – Optional policy; if opted‑in, claims are paid from insurer, not escrow.
7.2.10 Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Retain transaction logs, KYC data, and dispute files for 5 years (US) / 7 years (EU).
- File IRS 1099‑K for US Producers meeting >$600 threshold.
- GDPR & CCPA opt‑out handling processes documented separately.
7.2.11 International Shipments & Customs
- Producers must comply with all export control laws and obtain required licenses before shipping abroad.
- Buyers are responsible for paying import duties and clearing customs in their respective jurisdictions.
- PrintPeer is not liable for border delays, confiscations, or additional taxes assessed by customs agencies.
7.2.12 Tax Responsibility
Producers are solely responsible for collecting and remitting all applicable sales, value‑added, and income taxes. PrintPeer may provide reporting tools but does not assume liability for a producer’s tax obligations.
7.2.13 Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute unresolved by arbitration shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
7.2.14 Amendments & Publication
Version control maintained via Git. Material changes require 15‑day public notice to active users.
7.2.15 Contact

7.3 Refunds & Returns
No refunds or returns are permitted unless the product is faulty due to producer error, misrepresentation, or fraud. If the product is defective, fraudulent, or not as described, buyers are entitled to an instant refund. All such cases are subject to investigation by PrintPeer. Abuse of the refund policy—by either buyers or sellers—will result in account suspension or removal.
